Why a Tech Power Player? For advancing sustainable, equitable infrastructure in an emerging market.
Josh Aviv is the founder and CEO of Somerville-based SparkCharge, a mobile electric vehicle charging network designed to make EVs more practical for the general public — wherever they might be. With SparkCharge, companies and individuals can arrange for a SparkCharge driver to come to them with a portable charger, so they don’t have to worry about waiting at a charging station or, worse, getting stranded on the road. The hope is that SparkCharge, which offers both on-demand and scheduled charging sessions, will get more people behind the wheels of EVs by easing range anxiety — the fear of draining the battery before finding a charger. Aviv has won several entrepreneurship competitions for SparkCharge, including a $1 million investment from Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner on the TV show “Shark Tank.” Aviv has a bachelor of arts in economics and a master of science in information management from Syracuse University.
